Bomb Scare at Rt. 10 Dunkin’ Donuts Shuts Down Highway

Authorities say package found in bathroom wasn't hazardous.

Route 10 East was shut down early Tuesday afternoon as authorities investigated a suspicious package, initially believed to have been a bomb at the Dunkin’ Donuts in East Hanover.

The package was determined not to be hazardous, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

At about 12:12 p.m., employees called 911 to report finding what they believed to be an explosive device in a bathroom, according to the prosecutor's office.

Several law enforcement and public safety agencies — the East Hanover Police, Fire and EMS units, the Florham Park Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit and Criminal Investigation Section and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Weapons of Mass Destruction Assessment Team — responded the scene. Further investigation is being conducted by the East Hanover Police Department.

Livingston also responded with a fire truck, according to Det. Sgt. Anthony Dippold.
