How did you fare when the power went out during Superstorm Sandy? Find out how to stay connected safely in this new workshop.
Staying Connected: A Conversation about Using Your Electronics During an Emergency is a new presentation by the Livingston Township Technology Committee. Join us on Thursday, January 31 at 7:00 PM at the Senior Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston.
Martin J. Chiarolanzio, the Township’s Construction Official/Zoning Officer, Fire Chief Christopher Mullin (or another representative of the Livingston Fire Department), and Technology Committee members Phil Chaiklin and Ken Nevola will participate in an informal panel conversation designed to help residents prepare for the next storm or other emergency. After short presentations, the bulk of the workshop will consist of questions and discussion with the audience.

The meeting will provide information and ideas. The topic came up at our first Committee meeting after Superstorm Sandy. We began sharing our experiences with power outages, with the use of generators, how we managed our personal electronics during and following Sandy. As we went around the room we realized that there is much to learn in order to prepare for and deal safely with a storm or other emergency.
"Staying Connected will provide tips and insights about things like generators, including kinds of and how to operate them safely; use of inverters, surge protectors, and other electronics; cloud security; securing family and important documents; charging cell phones and computers; and more,” adds member Ken Nevola.
