Military Family and Veteran’s Dinner Being Held Nov. 6
Military Family and Veteran's Dinner at Il Vicolo in Livingston Nov. 6, 2011
Most people don’t realize that there are about 25 families living in Livingston who have their children serving in the military. They are stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Persian Gulf and other bases throughout the world as well as those attending Military Academies. Some are in military academies. These families live their lives different from the rest of us. They wait for e-mails, newspaper articles, websites and an occasional phone call from their sons. They are our neighbors and our local heroes.
With this awareness, once again a Military Family and Veteran’s Dinner will be on Sunday, November 6, at 1:30 pm at the Il Vicolo Restaurant in Livingston. It’s a way of saying “thank you” to those parents and previous war veterans for the sacrifices that they have made to make our country a safer place in which to live.
At our last dinner, two Holocaust survivors came looking for World War II veterans to express their gratitude. Returning soldiers also spoke to the attendees. It is an inspirational event. If anyone knows of a family that should be included as a military guest, please let me know. All Livingston residents are asked to join us at this special and meaningful occasion. It’s a wonderful opportunity to once again show “Livingston Cares and Never Forgets.”
