Livingston’s National Night out was a captivating event, Tuesday, August 02, 2011 on the Memorial Park Oval. There was blow-up slides, a water slide, and bounce houses for the kids to jump and play. There were booths from all departments of the local, county, and state police enforcement units.

My favorite was the FBI truck, I tried on the bullet proof vest. There were sponsored booths to from local merchants and support areas: DARE, The Livingston Police Children’s ID cards, Livingston Library, TD Bank, to name a few.

Food was served with choices of hot dogs, Dunkin Donuts, cotton candy, kettle corn and ice cream free for all who attended. There were games for the kids and a children’s playtime with games and music. Live music played throughout the event by local artists.

The Livingston Fire Department had one of their biggest trucks there with the ladder raised high spraying water onto the kids below.

The night started off with a ceremony for the police officers that have fallen in the line of duty, moment of silence followed by bagpipes.

Concluding the night was a movie under the stars. Starting at dusk.

Everyone was having a fun time and enjoying the evening. Thank you to the Livingston Police and Fire Departments for hosting this event. This is one of the reasons that our town is booming. What a night!
