Join historian Leslie Goddard, Ph.D., as she marks the centennial of Route 66 with a nostalgic journey along the legendary road that connected Chicago to Los Angeles from 1926 until its decommissioning in the mid-1980s. Explore the colorful roadside attractions, classic gas stations, family-run motels, and unforgettable landmarks that made Route 66 a symbol of freedom and adventure. Discover what life was like along the "Mother Road" during its heyday and why, 100 years later, it continues to capture the imagination of travelers and embody the spirit of the American road trip.

Leslie Goddard is an award-winning historian, author, actress, and former museum director who has been bringing history to life through engaging presentations for more than 20 years. A lifelong resident of the Chicago area, she holds a Ph.D. in American Studies and U.S. History from Northwestern University, along with master's degrees in theater and museum studies. The author of three history books, Leslie combines scholarly expertise with dynamic storytelling to make American history and popular culture both entertaining and accessible.
