Event Details

Livingston Public Library, 10 Robert H Harp Dr, Livingston, NJ, 07039

As the Livingston Public Library continues to observe America’s 250th anniversary, join us for a closer look at New Jersey’s important—and often overlooked—role in the Revolutionary War.

Presented by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Forgotten Victory Trail Association, this program explores the final major Revolutionary War engagements fought in New Jersey: the Battles of Connecticut Farms and Springfield in 1780. In these pivotal battles, the Continental Army and local New Jersey militia successfully repelled British forces attempting to capture George Washington and his army, then stationed in Morristown.

Adding to the experience, presenter Bob Gula will appear in the full uniform of a private in the 3rd New Jersey Regiment of the Continental Army, also known as the Jersey Blues, bringing the history of New Jersey’s Revolutionary past vividly to life.

Bob is a frequent lecturer on NJ Revolutionary War history and is an active member/officer of the following historical societies:

  • Forgotten Victory Trail Association
  • New Jersey Society, Sons of the American Revolution - West Fields Chapter
  • New Jersey Society, Sons of the American Revolution - Color Guard
  • Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War - Gen. Philip Kearny Camp #20
  • Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New Jersey
