Purim Carnival at TBA Postponed Until Spring!
The Jewish Learning Program of Temple B'nai Abraham has postponed their annual Purim Carnival until Thursday, May 7 at the temple.
The Purim Carnival, of The Jewish Learning Program of Temple B’nai Abraham, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 5, has postponed their annual Purim Carnival, until Thursday, May 7 at the temple.
In collaboration with the Carnival Company, the JLP staff and the JLP Parent Organization, the decision has been made to postpone tomorrow’s Purim Carnival due to the impending storm. While we can’t anticipate Mother Nature’s Purim prank, the Carnival company needs advance notice, therefore we must provide them with this today.
The Purim Carnival will now become a wonderful Lag B’Omer celebration. What is Lag B’Omer you ask? Lag B’Omer falls on during JLP hours on Thursday, May 7, 4 pm and 6 pm (when we are guaranteed no snow)! It is the 33rd day of the counting of the Omer, the time between Passover and the receiving of the Ten Commandments on Shavuot. Traditional Jews use this as the only day, that parties and celebrations are allowed between Passover and Shavuot. In Israel, everyone celebrates with picnic, bonfires and field trips and parties, so we welcome the opportunity to introduce our entire community to this lesser know tradition.
