Christie Launches Website As He Readies For Presidential Run

The website says, "Telling it like it is," and asks people to donate.

Gov. Chris Christie maybe be fashioning his pending presidential campaign around the words of legendary sportscaster broadcaster Howard Cosell.

He’s going to be “telling it like it is.”

Christie launched a website Saturday, chrischristie.com, that will likely serve as a launching pad for his presidential campaign, which he’s expected to announce Tuesday.

Christie borrowed a line made famous by Cosell, who used those words to advertise himself as a straight-talking, no-nonsense broadcaster.

Christie has fashioned himself in a similar way, making himself famous for putting hecklers or protesters in their place during his speeches by using words and phrases such as, “Sit down, and shut up.”

The question now is whether the approach is wearing thin. A recent poll shows he has a 30 percent approval rating in New Jersey, which is among the lowest approval ratings for any of the state’s governors in the past 25 years.

Christie will host a “special announcement” event at Livingston High School on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. that is expected to be his setting for declaring a presidential run.

Following the event, Christie will travel to Sandown, N.H. to host a town hall meeting.
