Continuing A Summer of Adventure at The Early School Camp

An Australian sugar glider, a ball python, a painted turtle… not the usual attendees of the Early School Camp!

An Australian sugar glider, a ball python, a painted turtle… not the usual attendees of the Early School Camp, but during the theme week of “visiting” the National Zoo in Washington, DC, campers experienced the excitement of meeting animals right on their campgrounds. The general theme this summer is Summer of Adventure where the Early School campers “experience” various national destinations such as Sesame Place, Crayola Factory, Disney World and more, through hands-on activities, on-campsite themed-related happenings as well as surprise visits from relevant characters and animal friends. Not from DC, but from West Orange, these animal visitors were local residents of the Turtle Back Zoo (TBZ) who traveled to the Early School via the TBZ Zoomobile, the zoo’s educational outreach program. Animal educator Paisley, from the TBZ , engaged the campers with enriching and fascinating animal facts, wildlife conservation information as well as giving the pre-schoolers hands-on experience with a few of the small, friendly visitors.

Shown with TBZ Educator Paisley, getting to know the Dwarf/Dutch rabbit, are Early School campers. For information about Early School programs (open to members and non-members), please contact Director Debbie Aronson Ziering at 973.994.7016 or visit www.tbanj.org/the-early-school.
