Cops: Four Men Got Stoned, Took Gun To Newark Airport, Went For Joy Ride

Men went on joy ride in Budget rental lot. The suspects had a Glock 40 calibre handgun on a booster seat, according to the Port Authority.

Four men carrying a gun got stoned early Monday and took four cars for a joy ride at Newark Liberty International Airport, police said.

Port Authority police were called to the Budget rental-car lot at 3 a.m. where the four men had just fled after being confronted by Budget employee, said Joe Pentangelo, a Port Authority Police spokesman.

Budget employees attempted to confront the suspects who were driving three Chevrolet Camaros and one Ford Mustang. The men drove the four vehicles around the lot in a reckless manner without permission of the rental company, Pentangelo said.

The men then fled the lot and attempted to enter the vehicles they arrived in, Pentangelo said.

One of those vehicles was a Dodge Dart and the other a 2009 Jaguar XF. Port Authority Police then arrived, rounded up the suspects and began interviewing them.
