Livingston Schools Had Delayed Opening Due To Weather; Snow In The Forecast

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Freezing rain caused school delays and closures around New Jersey including a delayed opening the Livingston Public Schools, which announced the one-hour delay Wednesday morning.

The district noted:

• Due to the weather conditions this morning, LPS will have a one-hour delay. Supervision will be provided for students already at school. Elementary and LHS buses running as scheduled, MPM and HMS busses will be on a one-hour delay. Please drive carefully.

The National Weather Service said the region was under an "urgent" winter weather advisory until 10 a.m.:

"Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible," the NWS wrote. "The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute." They advised drivers to slow down.

Snow Later This Week

Meanwhile, the NWS also linked to a powerpoint presentation for possible hazardous conditions Thursday night into Friday for the region:

• Accumulating Snowfall Potential Thursday Night Into Friday: Moderate to high potential for 2” or more of snow accum, with a low potential for 6” or more of snow accum for the entire area. Impacts - This will result in snow covered roads and hazardous travel, especially for the Friday morning commute."
