A display honoring the U.S. military at the Livingston Public Library

Livingston Library display

May is designated as National Military Appreciation Month, a time to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our service members, a time to remind ourselves of the important role the US Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.

So it is rather fitting, that the Livingston library is exhibiting local resident Charles Budzinski's collection of helmets, head wear and other items worn or used by members of the American military.

Each of the 5 branches of the US Armed Forces is represented, and the time periods of items range from World War 1 through the present day. These pieces have been acquired through over 30 years worth of trips to flea markets, surplus stores, garage sales and antique dealers. Says Charles, “I began collecting these items while in High School in the late 70’s, and continue to collect. My interest in all things military was no doubt encouraged by my father who served as a musician 3rd class in the US Navy during and just after World War 2.”
