Drinking And Droning: New Jersey Lawmakers Move For Ban
The days of having a few beers and taking your drone out for a spin may be nearing an end if New Jersey lawmakers get their way.

The days of drinking and droning in New Jersey may be nearing an end if state lawmakers get their way. On Monday, a New Jersey Assembly committee cleared A5205, which would make it a disorderly person offense to operate a drone “in a manner that endangers life or property.”
And yes, that includes tying a few on before you take to the skies.
The potential law, which is up for a vote in the full Senate on Thursday, would prohibit any drone operator from using a device while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, a narcotic, hallucinogenic, or habit-producing drug or with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or more by weight of alcohol.

The law would also ban New Jersey residents from using a drone to:

- Hunt or harm wildlife
- Endanger the safety or security of a correctional facility
- Operate a drone in a manner that interferes with a first responder who is actively engaged in response or air, water, vehicular, ground or specialized transport
