Drop Off Unwanted Medications At Livingston PD: April 30
Operation Take Back is designed to curb prescription drug abuse.

The Livingston Police Department will accept unwanted prescription pills during Operation Take Back on Saturday, April 30.
Pills can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Livingston police station at 333 South Livingston Avenue.
Liquids or needles will not be accepted.

The service is free and anonymous, authorities stated.
In addition, the following Essex County police departments will offer take back service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 30:

- West Orange
- Essex Fells
- Orange
- Verona
- Livingston
- Cedar Grove
- Glen Ridge
- Nutley
According to a news release, local police departments and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency sponsor the annual program in an effort to end prescription drug abuse.
Last September, Americans turned in more than 700,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,800 of its state and local law enforcement partners.
Overall, in its 10 previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 5.5 million pounds — more than 2,750 tons — of pills.
PERMANENT TAKE BACK SITES
In addition to the eight temporary take back sites listed above, 17 municipal police departments in the area serve as permanent prescription collection sites.
The permanent collection locations are as follows:

- Caldwell Police Department, 1 Provost Square, Caldwell
- East Orange Police Department, 15 South Munn Avenue, East Orange
- Fairfield Police Department, 230 Fairfield Road, Fairfield
- Irvington Police Department, 1 Civic Square, Irvington
- Livingston Police Department, 333 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston
- Montclair Police, Department, 647 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair
- Newark Police Department, 480 Clinton Avenue, Newark
- North Caldwell Police Department, 136 Gould Avenue, North Caldwell
- Millburn Police Department, 435 Essex Street, Millburn
