Essex County Got Soaked: Rain Totals By Town; Flood Warning Still In Effect
Livingston and the Caldwells got 2-3 inches of rain, spotters said. A flood warning was still in effect until 11 a.m.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Hudson, Essex, Union, Passaic, and Bergen counties until 11 a.m. Friday as more than an inch of rain fell across the region and caused local waterways to swell.
Livingston and the Caldwells seemed to get the most rain, according to spotter reports listed below.
The NWS said, "Some locations that will experience flooding include...Newark, Paterson, Elizabeth, Passaic, Wayne, Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, Hackensack, Linden, New City, Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn, Monsey and Rutherford."

"Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems."

- Caldwell (SW) 3.24 inches
- Caldwell 2.86 inches
- West Caldwell 2.20 inches
- West Caldwell 2.65 inches
- Livingston 2.46 inches
- Fairfield 2.39 inches
- Montclair 1.98 inches
- Millburn (W) 1.84 inches
- Millburn 1.77 inches
- Orange Reservoir 0.84 inches
- West Orange 1.59 inches
- West Orange 2.17 inches
- Newark 1.32 inches
- Irvington 1.25 inches
Rain totals were not as high as the 7 inches or more that fell in North Jersey quickly during Tropical Depression Ida, but still a significant rainfall.
Friday is forecast to continue to be sunny.
