The Essex Water Color Club, now in the 81st year of continuous activity in the watercolor painting community, is pleased to announce our monthly meeting with a demonstration by NJ artist, Chris Carter. Join us on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 2-4 PM at the Livingston Senior Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston, NJ.
The demonstration is open to the public and is free to members and $5 for non-members and guests. Refreshments will be served. For further information, contact John Wolff, 973-994-1597 or visit www.ewcclub.com
Chris Carter will present her Color Scheme Game in an ink and watercolor demonstration illustrating a practical and fun method to enhance color in paintings. The game is based on a basic, twelve-hue color wheel. With a throw of dice, artists at all levels of ability are playfully challenged. Carter will show additional samples of the game played using a variety of other media such as oil, acrylic, gouache and textiles.

Working primarily in watercolor and oil, Carter has had numerous solo exhibitions featuring both figurative and abstract work. In addition to studio and plein air painting, Carter paints in theaters, pubs and concert halls during live performances. Artist Statement:
I return to realism on a daily basis as a practice to hone my drawing and painting skills. Rarely do I exhibit the results of this discipline. I explore reality to keep my eye and hand well-tuned so that I may respond intuitively to the movements of the world around me, the sounds and the flickering shapes of color and light whether they be branches bending in the wind or dancers gliding across a floor.
