Tuesday, February 21 4pm to 5pm
Everything you need to survive can be found in the forest. In this outdoor adventure, we’ll build either a snow or stick
debris shelter and see what we can learn from the squirrels about how to stay warm in winter.

Predator Prey Relations and Owl Pellet Dissection
Tuesday, March 20 4pm to 5pm
Learn about beautiful and mysterious birds of prey. Discover who they’re eating as we discuss the food chain and carefully reconstruct the bones found inside owl pellets. We will also discuss our local and threatened Barred Owl that makes its home in nearby Hatfield Swamp.

Tuesday, April 17 4pm to 5pm
Take a tour to learn about how the Center is made from environmentally friendly materials and designed to minimize its impact on the Earth. Help retrofit our rain barrels to collect spring rains to be used for watering our gardens.

Oh Deer!

A healthy forest provides for a diversity of plant and animal species. Examine the relationship between intense deer browse and our forest understory inside and outside of our half-acre fenced deer exclosure. Learn the characteristics of
a healthy forest and its importance to ecological biodiversity.

Explore Nature Scavenger Hunt
Tuesday, June 19 4pm to 5pm
Test your forest knowledge as we split into teams to see who can uncover nature’s hidden treasures. In doing so you’ll have to recognize where to find different leaves, seeds, bones and stones as well as living organisms in our habitat.
