Information Session for Hua Mei Charter School

The Hua Mei Charter School, a proposed Mandarin-language immersion school that would be located in Maplewood and open to students from Livingston, is holding an information session on from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The co-founders of the school will be on hand to present information about the school, its mission and vision.

Acting Commissioner Christopher Cerf if expected to make a ruling on Hua Mei and other proposed charters sometime in September. If approved, Hua Mei would move forward for a September 2012 opening. The school is hoping to use the former in Maplewood.

Hua Mei would serve five school districts in the area: South Orange-Maplewood, West Orange, Union, Millburn and Livingston.
