Is Solar Energy Right for My Home?

Concern about rising heating and cooling costs and concern for the environment are causing many homeowners to ask, “Is solar energy right for my home?”  To answer that question, on April 25 at 8:00 pm at the Livingston Senior Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston, NJ speakers and panelists will examine the practicalities of installing residential solar systems.

Ron Reisman, Program Manager for New Jersey Clean Energy, and Pamela Frank of Sun Farm Network will speak about the financial and installation considerations when considering solar systems for your home.  They will address questions such as “How long is the payback period for residential solar systems?” and “What considerations make a particular house a good candidate for solar?”

Commissioner Joseph Fiordaliso, Bureau of Public Utilities, will provide an overview of the status of solar in New Jersey today.  Two Livingston homeowners, Komal Panjabi and Shawn Klein, will describe the process they used in evaluating whether or not to install solar in their homes.
