Join TBA Adult Learning for Machzor 101
We stretch our bodies before we work out. We floss our teeth before we see the dentist. When things are important to us, we prepare accordingly. But do we prepare ourselves for the High Holy Days 9 (which begin on Sunday, evening September 16)? Our sages teach us that personal preparation for the Yamim Noraim, the Days of Awe, is crucial in making most of the sacred time to come. In that spirit, please join Cantor Jessica Epstein of Temple B’nai Abraham for Adult Learning class: Machzor 101 at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 12, at the temple.
Together, we will try to understand the Machzor (High Holy Day Prayer book) on both a macro and micro level. We will examine the over-arching structure of the prayer service, and explore several key prayers in depth, including Kol Nidre and Unetaneh Tokef. We might even sing a little. No Hebrew skill is required, and a spirit of openness and questioning will prevail.
