 Dr.Tom McCabe will discuss the rise, fall, and resurrection of an American prep school just out of the downtown of New Jersey’s largest city—Newark.

  Tom McCabe is a Visiting Professor in the History Department at Rutgers University-Newark. The award-winning teacher and author teaches seminars on race and ethnicity in the United States, American cities and suburbs, and the history of soccer.  He has also taught one of the department’s most popular courses, History of Newark. McCabe received his PhD in American History from Rutgers University in 2006, and his history of St. Benedict’s Preparatory School, an over 140-year-old Catholic prep school in Newark, was published by Fordham University Press in 2010. He also worked as an administrator and teacher at St. Benedict’s for over 15 years.
