Exit 5 Robotics (E5R), an all-girls robotics team and part of Livingston Robotics Club, concluded their 2017-2018 competition season with the Design Award at the CREATE US Open Robotics Championships, held April 5 - 7 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Competing in the Open Category, the E5R team went up against 59 other teams from China and the USA.

The Design Award is presented to a team with an professional approach to the design process and a clear overall strategy to accomplish their goals. The Open Category competition is "open" in the sense that any reasonably priced components from any source were allowed in the robots construction and design. In all other aspects, the actual competition is very similar to VRC (VEX Robotics Competition) with the same scoring features and and game rules.
