The Livingston Health Department encourages residents to sign up for its File of Life program this September as part of National Preparedness Month. It’s a good time to think about putting together or updating lists of medications and health-related information to keep your family prepared for any emergency.

Livingston’s File of Life program is a free packet that contains a form on which residents can include information like their emergency contacts, medical data, medications and dosages, medical conditions, allergies and medical insurance. The form folds up to fit in the red magnet “File of Life” holder which should be placed on the top portion of the refrigerator for easy access in case of an emergency. First responders and Emergency Medical Service technicians will have immediate access to critical medical information as soon as they arrive.
