Fire Log: Car Accidents and False Alarms
FD responds to a serious MVA, along with routine calls of false alarms.

Livingston's Fire Department was called to the scene of a couple of motor vehicle accidents in town this week. Below is the log of activity for June 8-13:
Tuesday, June 8 — 2 calls
- Springbrook Road — Carbon monoxide detector activation, detector was chirping, but not activated. Homeowner advised to have unit replaced. No readings found.
- Devonshire Drive — Homeowner reported burning odor in residence. Entire residence was checked, but no cause detected.
Wednesday, June 9 – 4 calls

- Motor vehicle accident on S. Livingston Avenue. Car ran into a utility pole, but no injuries reported. FD removed an elderly male driver via passenger door. Patient requested medical treatment and was transported to St. Barnabas by Livingston First Aid Squad.
- Camelot Road — CO alarm transmission, residence checked with department meter, but no reading was found. Homeowner advised to have unit replaced.
- Baker Road — CO alarm transmission. Residence checked with meter, but no reading found.
- Camelot Drive — CO alarm activation as result of power outage in area.
Thursday, June 10 – 2 calls
- Highland Drive — Fire alarm transmission, but cancelled by homeowner.
- Ridge Drive — Fire alarm transmission; system activated due to contractor removing heat detector in attic area, system was reset.
Friday, June 11– 2 calls

- E. Cedar Street (in an an apartment building) —Fire alarm transmission activated due to food dripping onto the electric coil of oven, creating a smoke condition in resid. System was reset.
- Woodcrest Drive — Homeowner's push lawn mower was burning on the front lawn; fire was extinguished with a portable extinguisher.
Saturday, June 12 – 2 calls
- Walnut St. and W. Mt. Pleasant Ave — Motor vehicle accident with individual stuck in car. Extricated one male driver via rear cargo door; he was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by Livingston First Aid Squad. Second victim in other vehicle taken to St. Barnabas.
- Goodhart Drive — Fire alarm transmission. Residence was checked, but nothing found. System was reset.
Sunday, June 13 – 3 calls
- Water Pollution Control Facility Fire — Alarm transmission triggered, as result of smoke from pump motor that had shorted out in basement. Electric shut off to unit, but system was not reset.
- Nero's — Fire alarm transmission, building checked, but no problem. System not reset.
- Tremont Terrace — Fire alarm transmission due to smoke from cooking. FD was cancelled prior to arrival.
