Fleet Feet: LHS Comes THISCLOSE to Sectional Crown

Lancers Athletic Director: Winter track stars advance to state finals.

The Livingston High School Boys Winter Track team nearly won the Group IV Section I sectional state championships, finishing a close second to Ridgewood, Patrick Genova, the LHS director of athletics said.

LHS defeated other powerhouse, rivals Randolph and West Orange high schools. The team won four of the 10 events that were contested, including German Valez, in the high jump, Andrew Jung, the pole vault, and Jeramy Elkaim, both the 1600 M and the 3200 M, which he won breaking the meet record time, Genova said.

As result of these wins, the athletes now advance to the overall Group IV championship next weekend along with three other members of the boys track team who also had outstanding meets yesterday and qualified: Nick Fogarty, David Coleman, and Mike Lazar.
