After heavy rains and flooding in North Jersey, see the rain totals for Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service issued a flood watch through late Friday, expecting more than 3 inches of rain to fall — and that's what happened.
According to rain totals from the National Weather Service, more than 3 inches fell in the Caldwells, and more than 2 inches fell in nearby towns. See the list here.

On Friday, the Caldwell police said Ravine Avenue was temporarily closed due to downed wires.

Heavy rain is expected from Thursday evening through Friday night, and some flooding is likely. Millburn Township is currently monitoring the storm and any impact it may have to our area. Be sure to secure any loose outdoor items around your home or business, such as patio furniture, trash cans and decorations.

Get to Higher Ground. Avoid flood prone areas.
Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Don’t drive or walk into flooded areas. It only takes 6 inches of water to knock you off your feet.
Stay informed. Monitor local weather channels for updates.

A Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding and flooding may occur
A Warning is issued when flooding is imminent or occurring
Residents who reside in flood-prone areas may move their vehicles to higher ground or park on levels 2 and 3 of the parking garage on Essex St.
