ESSEX COUNTY COUNTY, NJ — With more than 2 inches of rain falling from Friday night through Sunday in Essex County, officials reported flooding in low-lying regions.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning through 11 p.m. on Monday for Essex County towns, particularly any near the Passaic River.

A flood watch was initially issued for Essex County from noon Sunday until midnight, and a flood advisory was issued after that. Officials advised residents to try not to drive through floodwaters.

As of Sunday, Millburn and Maplewood had gotten 2.42 and 2.40 inches of rain respectively, while Livingston was reported at 1.87. However, a steady rain throughout the day will likely boost totals as of Monday morning, so check for updates here.

The storm didn't reach the proportions of deadly Hurricane Ida, which dumped 7 inches of rain on some area towns in a short time, but it still raised the level of local waterways.
