Follow-up: Teenager Surrenders in Attempted Burglary at McDonald's
Second teenager taken into custody following attempted burglary of McDonald's.

A 16-year old teenager from Newark has surrendered to police in connection with the attempted burglary at the McDonald's in Saint Barnabas Medical Center that occurred in the early hours on Tuesday, June 15.
Police report that the teenager, along with his mother, appeared at Livingston's police headquarters two days after the incident to turn himself in. Police had identified him and requested that he do so.
Immediately following the incident, Livingston police took into custody a 17-year old male from Irvington, also associated with the attempted burglary, which occurred early on June 15, at about 2:20 a.m. Then, police received a call from security at the hospital indicating that two males were attempting to enter the McDonald's; the security crew witnessed the men trying to break into the back door over a surveillance monitor.

When police arrived on the scene, the door was indeed broken, and the alleged robbers were still inside, but ran out as soon as officers entered, police indicate. Police chased the males and apprehended one in the parking lot, but the other fled.
