The Wizards Are Coming

1. The Harlem Wizards, one of the greatest basketball show-team to ever "lace it up and let 'em fly," will be doing their thing in Livingston at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5. Some of the proceeds from this event will be donated to help fight diabetes, courtesy of the LHS Boys Basketball Parents Association. 

One of the Lancers players has been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, "so raising money for this childhood disease is very near and dear to our hearts," said Vicki Kalmus,  president of the parents group. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed to the foundation to aid in development and research.

The Wizards will be playing on the LHS courts against some Livingston "Hot Shots," a team made up of coaches, volunteer firemen, local parents and kids. 

Additionally, there will be a raffle held for six tickets for a NJ Nets games, including a parking pass and other giveaways.  The package also includes the opportunity for four children to go on the court and High Five the Nets players.

2. Stage Door by Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman is coming to the Livingston High School stage.  Taking place during the Depression, tells the story of Terry Randall, a headstrong and witty girl from the Midwest who is determined to become a leading actress on the Great White Way.  The production is directed by Janet Storti.

Performances will take place in the Livingston High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2; 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3; 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5.  Tickets will be on sale for $12.  Pre-order tickets by sending an e-mail to lhstickets@livingston.org or calling (973) 535-8000 ext. 8883.  You may also purchase tickets in person beginning Nov. 29 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and after school from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 in the main lobby at LHS. 

3. Ready for Your Close Up? Register now for the Fifth Grade Hollywood Party. It will be 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at Monmouth Court.

Registration for the winter programs begins on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 8:30 a.m.  both online and in person at the , 204 Hillside Avenue.  Non-resident registration begins on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
