Girls Tennis Wins State Sectional Championship

Team Defeats Bergen Tech 5-0.

The Livingston High School Girls Tennis Team defeated Bergen Tech HS 5-0 to win the 2009 Group 4 North 1 Sectional Championship on October 22 at the Tiger Tennis Indoor courts in Wayne, NJ.  

This is the team's second consecutive state sectional championship.  

Freshmen Nicole Russo and Sam Alpert led the team at 1st  and 2nd  singles, respectively with senior co-captains Anna Bagin-Borzilov and Jordana Geller at doubles.

The team, ranked #14 in the State by the Star-Ledger, completed the season with a 17-5 record and tied for 2nd in the SEC conference with a 9-3 record in the conference’s highest division, the American division, in its inaugural year.

Individually, Russo and Alpert both made the State singles tournament in their freshmen campaigns and seniors Geller and Bagin-Borzilov reached the round of 16 of the State doubles tournament.

Alpert had the best individual record on the team with a record of 19-2 in team matches.  According to team statistics, all players finished with excellent, winning records in leading the team to a memorable season.  

With only 3 out of 10 players on this year’s team graduating, Livingston is looking to have competitive team for years to come.
