Girls Volleyball Team Qualifies for State Tournament
Girls have qualified for tournament every year since 1995.
On October 20, the Lancers avenged their loss to Science Park in the County semi-finals by defeating them 2-0. The win gave the girls a berth in the State Tournament which will begin November 3.
With the win against Science Park, the team secured a record of 14-4 by the state cut-off date. This is the fourteenth straight year the team will play in the tournament; the team has qualified for the State Tournament every year since 1995.
In the winning match, senior outside hitter Casey Tepper had 16 kills and 6 digs. Junior libero Connie Cheng had 9 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Nancy Yang had 10 kills, 9 digs and 4 blocks. Senior opposite Morgan Pfister had 3 kills, 1 assist and 1 ace. Junior setter Michelle Lee had 26 assists, 1 kill, 7 digs and 1 block. Senior middles Esther Lin and Natalie Marek combined for 2 kills, 1 assist and 3 blocks. Senior defensive specialist Amy Friedman had 3 digs.
