Golf Tournament Raises Money for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum

Local golf tournament to benefit The Children's Institute and The Center for Independence.

VERONA (August, 2015) – The Children’s Institute (TCI) will be hosting its fifth annual Fore the Kids Golf Tournament at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange on Tuesday, October 6th to benefit individuals with autism and related disorders.

TCI continues to receive overwhelming support from its families and community supporters. There are currently 75 committed golfers signed up to participate this fall. Over the past four years, this tournament has raised over $400,000 to benefit the children of TCI and adults of The Center for Independence (CFI).

Under the leadership of co-chairs James Hunter of Whippany and Tom Releford of East Hanover, and with support from the event committee’s founder Michael Conley of Mendham, the volunteer committee members are pleased with the progress made thus far, and are committed to making a difference in the lives of the individuals who attend TCI and CFI.

Brunch buffet and registration will begin at 8:30am, followed by a shotgun start at 11am. Hole-in-one car prizes will be available on select holes. Each participant will have their golf swing captured by students of TCI’s High School Film Program, which will be showcased at the cocktail hour to follow. Golfers and guests will enjoy dinner at the club, featuring guest speaker Jim Axelrod, CBS National Correspondent. Live and silent auctions will take place throughout the evening, and will include incredible items such as a private flight down the Hudson and two round trip plane tickets to Martha’s Vineyard.
