ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service had issued a hazardous weather outlook and wind advisory for Essex, Hudson, Union, Passaic, and Bergen counties starting at 3 p.m. Saturday and running through 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

"Southwest winds 15 to 25 m.p.h. with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. expected," noted the advisory. "Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

The NWS noted, "Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects."

"In addition," said the hazardous weather outlook, "heavier showers and thunderstorms this evening could produce damaging wind gusts to near 60 m.p.h."
