Happy Birthday to the Trees @ TBA Jewish Learning Program

In honor of Tu B'Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, students of the Jewish Learning Program of TBA learned about Shomrei Adamah.

In honor of Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, students from the Jewish Learning Program of Temple B’nai Abraham spent the month of January learning about the ideas of Shomrei Adamah, caring for the earth. Then on the holiday, celebrated with a special screening of the 1972 version of the Lorax, a Torah study session on the protection of the environment in Jewish texts, and then topped it off with a creation station, where small groups worked together to craft a school wide “Recycled Garden of Eden” art installation, creating sculptures to represent the creatures and natural world, God charged us with protecting.

Pictured are JLP students and their Mama Chicken with her Eggs. The installation is currently on display in the TBA Lobby and contains over 75 unique works of recycled art.
