Snow In Livingston Weather Forecast; Closures, Roads, Garbage (UPDATE)

Significant changes to this week’s winter storm forecast in New Jersey now include predictions of widespread heavy snowfall, coastal flooding and fierce winds capable of causing power outages, forecasters say.
Between 8 to 12 inches of snowfall is possible in North Jersey and 1 to 3 inches are possible in Central Jersey during Tuesday's overnight storm, the National Weather Service said. Read More: Foot Of Snow Possible As Winter Storm Targets NJ

A Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Storm Watch are in effect for the Livingston area until Tuesday afternoon.

All non-emergency municipal offices in Livingston will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 13 due to the weather forecast. Emergency services (police, fire and DPW) will continue. All township offices will reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
All municipal roads will be salted and cleared throughout the storm, Livingston town officials said. Road clearing will continue after the snow ends.

Garbage and Recycling Collection
In the event that inclement weather prevents your garbage and/or recycling from being collected, here are two things to know, Livingston officials said:
- RTS will collect your garbage on your next regularly scheduled garbage collection day. There is no “make up” day for garbage collection. Contact RTS at 1-833-787-5886 or at Livingston@rts.com.
- Waste Industries will collect your recycling on the next day of the week and all recycling collection moves forward one day for the rest of the week. Contact Waste Industries at 908-436-1966 or at info@waste-industries.com.
Power Outages
Here are two things to know in Livingston if electrical outages occur due to severe weather.
- JCP&L customers can report outages by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on firstenergycorp.com, or by texting OUT to 544487
- PSE&G customers can report outages by calling 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), clicking the "Report Outage" link on nj.pseg.com/outageandgasleaks, or by texting OUT to PSE&G (47734).
Homebound Residents In Livingston
Livingston residents who may need help evacuating their home during an emergency should complete the Homebound Residents Form (PDF). For more information, visit livingstonnj.org/Homebound. Any resident who needs help evacuating their home in an emergency should call 911.

According to the National Weather Service forecast (as of Monday morning), here’s what is expected in the Livingston area this week:
Monday Night: Rain after 11pm, mixing with snow after 5am. Low around 32. Light and variable wind becoming northeast 6 to 11 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Tuesday: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 8am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 36. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 21 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 33. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Blustery.
Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 38.
Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.
Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.
