Helicopter Will Come To Essex County On Mosquito Control Mission

A helicopter will fly over areas along the Passaic River in Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland, Millburn and Livingston.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A low-flying helicopter will be passing over parts of Essex County on Wednesday and Thursday as part of an “aerial larval control” operation to battle mosquitos, officials say.

The helicopter will fly over areas along the Passaic River in Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland, Millburn and Livingston. It’s expected to happen between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., weather permitting.

The helicopter will be treating the affected areas with a “granular BTI,” which officials described as a “natural substance that is harmless to humans and animals.”
