Improperly Displayed Numbers Have Delayed 1st Responders In Livingston: Fire Official

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston fire officials are asking home and business owners to help their local emergency responders and make sure they are properly displaying their address numbers as required by town code.
It could be a move that saves your life, one emergency responder says.
According to Livingston Fire Chief Christopher Mullin, there have been “many” responses from fire, police and EMS units that have been delayed in the township due to improperly displayed address numbers.

“In some instances, when seconds count, having improperly displayed or no numbering on your structure could spell disaster,” Mullin said. “I am asking all residents and business owners to take a minute to review and comply with our township ordinance that requires a minimum of five inches in height numbers be displayed so as to be clearly visible from the street. If residents or business owners have any questions regarding this issue, they can call the Livingston Building Department at (973) 535-7957, ext. 5209 for information on proper displaying of numbers on structures.
