Israel Through Film with Rabbi Kulwin @ TBA

The Israeli film Late Summer Blues (1987) will be shown. Rabbi Kulwin will introduce the screening and lead the discussion afterward.

On Wednesday, March 2, 7:00 PM, at Temple B’nai Abraham, 300 E Northfield Road, Livingston, the Israeli film Life According to Agfa will be shown. Rabbi Kulwin will introduce the screening and lead the discussion afterward.

Written and directed by Assi Dayan, son of Moshe, Life According to Agfa takes us through 24 hours in a small Tel Aviv pub. Shot in black and white as film noir, Agfa brings together soldiers and civilians, police and crooks, the wealthy and the worn, and weaves personal crises – mental breakdowns, drugs, larceny, luridly dysfunctional relationships – together. Dayan’s purpose may be to show us the Promised Land has a less attractive side, but so do people in general.
