Jeep Stolen From Livingston Home Early Tuesday Morning, Then Recovered

The Livingston police were busy shortly after midnight this morning when they spotted two stolen vehicles, one from town.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Shortly after midnight this morning, the Livingston police spotted two stolen cars driving through town, then determined that one of them had been taken from a local home a short time earlier.

Police said that at 12:32 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, they were canvassing the Glendale Avenue area after someone had reported an attempted burglary to a vehicle.

Police saw two vehicles enter Route 280 eastbound, they said.

One of the cars was a Kia that previously had been reported stolen from Irvington. And nearby was a Jeep Cherokee that had recently been stolen from a Livingston home.

Police soon found the Jeep disabled and unoccupied on Route 280, they said.

They checked with the homeowner in the area of Amelia Avenue, who confirmed the Jeep had been recently stolen. And it turned out that a wallet had been stolen from another car nearby.

Both vehicles had been left unlocked, and the key fob was left inside the Jeep, police said.

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating.
