The Jewish Legacy of the Piano...Solo Piano Recitals @ TBA

The Jewish Legacy of the Piano, series of solo piano recitals by the world’s foremost artists at Temple B‘nai Abraham, 300 E Northfield Road, Livingston continues on Sunday, November 22, at 3:00 PM. The second in series features Pianist Joseph Kalichstein, member of the faculty of the Juilliard School. Kalichstein is a founding member of the famed Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Piano Trio. Pianist Joseph Kalichstein, born in Tel Aviv in 1946, came to the United States in 1962. He studied piano with Joshua Shor in Israel and Edward Steuermann and Ilona Kabos at the Juilliard School in New York. In 1967, two years prior to gaining a master’s degree at Juilliard, he made his New York recital debut and won the Young Concert Artists’ Award. In 1968 he appeared on national television in his first guest appearance with the New York Philharmonic, under the direction of Leonard Bernstein.

At the TBA solo piano recital, he will play major works from throughout the classical piano repertoire, representing the breadth of Jewish pianistic accomplishment. Kalichstein’s program includes works from Chopin, Schumann, Brahms and Mendelssohn.

The last recital in the series will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at 3:00 PM, when pianist and conductor Vladimir Feltsman will perform.
