held their much anticipated grand re-opening on Wednesday in front of customers, staff workers and local officials.  The Livingston location is the second of the upscale chain’s 24 stores to undergo renovations as part of a company-wide brand and website re-launch.

With a new logo and a new tagline, ‘Where Inspiration Strikes,’ Kings reopened their doors with some new features and new specialty items for their customers.

“It is our goal to bring you the best possible shopping experience every time you enter our doors,” said Judy Spires, President and CEO of Kings Food Markets.  “As your needs evolve, we will be there.  Kings will be there to meet your needs, just like we are doing here today with our Livingston store.”

Some of the new features in the remodeled store are freshly-rolled sushi, an Olive and Pickle Bar and more than 400 international cheeses, as well as a contemporary café equipped with Wi-Fi and a full-service Floral Boutique.  The store also will include a broader selection of organic and locally grown products as well as fresh-squeezed juice and freshly cut fruits and vegetables.

Despite all of the new additions, Spires made sure to point out that customer service was still the “pride” of the store.

“If you shop in the Livingston store, or any Kings for that matter, you can attest that our store associates are truly the best and truly passionate about food,” said Spires.

Local officials were at the event to celebrate the re-opening, including Mayor Stephen Santola and Assemblyman John McKeon (D-27).  Santola recalled his life in Livingston and how Kings has always been a constant.

“Kings has been a great community partner,” said Santola.  “And now with a bigger footprint in town, they will be an even better community partner and we look forward to that.”

Santola also pointed out that Livingston, like Kings, “shoots for customer service” and should consider using Kings as “a model” of how to give good service to their customers.  The store also furthered their goal of community outreach by agreeing to donate 10% of the proceeds from the re-opening to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW).

McKeon pointed out that the remodeled store is a “testament to the thriving community of Livingston.”

“It takes a lot to have the kind of persons that are going to support the store in its expanded form, the kind of business climate that is fostering that kind of investment and you are all to be congratulated for it,” said McKeon.

Some of the other new and expanded departments in the store include Neapolitan-style pizza that cooks in just two minutes; a Greek Yogurt Bar with an assortment of gourmet toppings; a Grain Exchange bar with healthy, legume-based options and a Coffee House that serves custom espressos and cappuccinos as well as iced lattes, frappuccinos and fresh fruit smoothies.

Following the ceremony, in lieu of a ribbon cutting, Kings officials cut strands of freshly made pasta to commemorate the grand opening.
