Ladder Stolen From Livingston Mart

Also, attempted burglary reported on this week's blotter.

Two men have been arrested for stealing a ladder from Livingston Mart.

The owner of Livingston Mart, located at 212 N. Livingston Avenue, called police at about 8 a.m. on July 7 to report that a ladder, which had been at the side of the building, was missing.  The owner had reviewed surveillance tape, on which he saw two men taking the ladder and putting it on a landscaping truck registered to Statewide Landscaping, police report.  

Police later found the truck on Wardell Road and then arrested Salvadore Henriquez, 31, of West Orange and Humberto Cabrera, 39, of Orange for theft.

Also this week, another attempted burglary was reported, following a recent series of break-ins and attempted home burglaries.  

On Monday, July 12, police received an alarm at about 11:30 a.m. from a home on Laurel Avenue.  When police arrived at the home, officers found the front door broken; they inspected the home, but did not find any suspect.  The homeowner was not at home either.

But a neighbor reported seeing a silver or gray colored Jeep parked in the driveway earlier, which police believe was the suspect's car.  No further description was given.
