LHS Bowling Coach Says Hard Work is Paying Off
Lancers Combine for 3249 in victory over West Orange.

The Lancers Boys Bowling Team defeated West Orange on Thursday in record fashion, producing a whopping total pin count of 3245.
"The team proved that hard work pays off," said Livingston Head Coach Griff Hughes. "We knew that we would have an excellent team this year with all returning but one player from last year," he added.
Hughes received stout performances from the threesome of Scott Spurling, Brandon Gershon, and Jacob Emert who all contributed to an impressive first game with 204, 201, and 210 respectively in a 1065-765 victory. "There was a lot of oil [on the lane] so we had to adjust," said Spurling.

"We're a great team we all have really good scores," said Captain Howard Hsu.

Hsu continued his historic season setting a new record for individual scoring with a three-game total of 771. Hsu was in a rhythm knocking down strike after strike with a first and third game score of 279.
"It just felt good, just like [my perfect game], the lanes nice and everything was going," said Hsu. When asked how proud he is of one of his players breaking a record, coach Hughes said, "I would have been proud for any of my players for achieving the record as they are all wonderful to work with."
The victory improves the Lancers to 4-0 on the season as they go into a matchup with Millburn on Monday. The Lancers know that with record setting performances come high expectations.
"Well, it would be a disappointment for everyone if we didn't repeat as title winners for the State, County or Division Championchips," said Hughes. "Winning all three again would be unbelievable," he added.
