So far, so good for the Livingston baseball team.
The Lancers, under the direction of head coach Scott Schroeder, have jumped to a 2-0 start with victories over Bloomfield and Millburn this week.
On Monday, April 4, Livingston opened its 2011 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bloomfield at home.
The stars of the day were starting pitcher Brian Drapeau and left fielder Brandon Levy. Drapeau, who pitched a complete game five-hitter, struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter. He allowed one unearned run in the third inning.
Levy delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning to give Livingston a 2-0 lead. Drapeau, who had tripled in the frame, had the only other hit for Livingston against Bloomfield starter Jeremiah Smith.
On Wednesday, April 6, Livingston rolled to a 9-1 victory at Millburn.
Brandon Levy went 3-for-5 with two singles, a triple and four RBI. Levy’s two-out, RBI single in the fourth gave Livingston a 3-0 advantage. John Sorrentino then keyed a four-run fifth inning with a bases-loaded, two-out triple that gave the Lancers a 6-1 edge. Levy then followed with an RBI single.
Livingston will face its toughest test of the season on Saturday when it travels to West Orange to face Seton Hall Prep at 3 p.m. Seton Hall Prep is considered to be one of the top teams in the state.
The Lancers then come home to host Montclair on Monday at 4 p.m.
