LHS Boys Lacrosse Turning Around Season

Sticks heat up during recent surge.

The Livingston boys lacrosse team’s sticks have been heating up. The result is a 4-1 run that has raised the Lancers’ record to 5-4.

That surge included a 9-5 victory over Verona in the first round of the Essex County Tournament. Senior attackman Andrew Lesser collected three goals and one assist and senior middie Tyler DaSilva hit for two goals for ninth-seeded Livingston against eighth-seeded Verona. Verona edged Livingston, 9-8, in overtime on opening day.

Lesser scored 13 goals and junior middie Anthony D’Aloia had nine to key the four-game winning streak.  Livingston scored 13 goals twice in beating Hanover Park, North Warren and West Orange, before the ECT match.

Livingston will travel to Watsessing Park in Bloomfield Saturday to face the top seed, seventh-ranked Glen Ridge, in the ECT quarterfinals.

The girls lacrosse team (2-5), has been led by Sami Attermann. The junior scored eight goals in a 15-11 victory over Newark Academy last Wednesday. It was the first of two times Attermann hit for eight goals – she did it on Monday in a 17-11 loss to red-hot Montclair. She notched six goals in a dramatic 18-17 loss to Mount St. Dominic on Wednesday. The Caldwell school netted a goal with 1:04 left in regulation to snap a 17-17 tie.

The recent surge for Attermann increased her career goal total to 117. She hit the century mark with a five-goal effort in a 17-7 loss to Montclair Kimberley in the first round of the Essex County Tournament.

On the diamond

The Lancer baseball team, which made a huge statement when it topped juggernaut Seton Hall Prep a few weeks ago, will face off with the West Orange school on Friday at 4 p.m. in Livingston. The game, originally scheduled for Monday, was moved due to poor field conditions because of recent rain storms.
