Little Leaguers Come Up Big Again

Livingston Nationals 10-U Team are Sectional Champs.

Livingston’s Little Leaguers are going to the show! The National 10-U won the sectional crown on Saturday, defeating Hoboken All-Stars 5-1. Next up, the state championships beginning Friday night.

Thewon the 2011 Section 2 Champions, jumping to an early lead with first inning homers. The last time the Livingston Nationals were in the Sectionals was 2004 when they were three outs away from winning only to be knocked out of contention.

In Saturday’s game, starter Brandon Drapeau pitched scoreless baseball over five innings, allowing only two hits.

Kacey Chambers entered the game in relief and both pitchers were brilliant, allowing only one run.

Richie Demaio started the offense for the Nationals by taking the first pitch of the game over the fence for a lead-off home run. This was the first of two home runs for Demaio in the game.

Austin Chambers followed next and he too took the Hoboken starting pitcher deep, helping the Nationals jump out to a 2-0 lead after just two batters came to the plate.

This first NJ Sectional Championship earns the team the right to compete in the NJ State Final 4 Tournament, which will be held in Howell Little League field at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 22.

This is the first time a Livingston National 10-U team has gone to the State Final 4 Tournament. Their first opponent will be a 10-U team from Manasquan/Brielle Little League.
