Livingston 2026 Primary Election Results For Town Council Race (UPDATED)
Six candidates are running as Democrats for Livingston Town Council. The Republican candidate ran unopposed.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The stage is set for a November showdown in Livingston.
Three seats on the Livingston Township Council are up for grabs this year. Terms last for four years.

Voters went to the polls on Tuesday for a primary election. Democratic and Republican candidates competed for their party’s nomination. The winners will match up against any independent or third-party candidates in a general election on Nov. 3.

Six candidates competed for the Democratic Party nomination. With all districts reported, Edward Meinhardt and Stacey Abenstein and Ketan Bhuptani have apparently won the election. After counting provisional ballots, Bhuptani had a slim 11-vote lead over Kahn, who said she doesn't plan to challenge the results.
Here are the results, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
Vote for three:
- Stacey Abenstein – 1,870 votes (18.49%)
- Laurie Kahn – 1,766 votes (17.46%)
- Bill Lam – 1,378 votes (13.63%)
- Edward Meinhardt – 1,987 votes (19.65%)
- Ketan Bhuptani – 1,777 votes (17.57%)
- Daphne Dan Wang – 1,335 votes (13.2%)
