Livingston Firefighters Gifted With New Life-Saving Equipment
A grant will provide the LFD with a thermal imaging camera that will help locate victims trapped in a smoky building.

If you’re trapped in a smoky, burning building, Livingston firefighters may be able to use their new thermal imaging camera to find your location.
The Livingston Fire Department was the recent recipient of a $7,346 grant from local brokerage firm Reiff & Associates and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.
According to a release, the grant will enable the LFD to purchase a thermal imaging camera, which will enable firefighters to see through smoke and darkness and help them quickly locate trapped victims during a blaze.

“With a thermal imager in hand, firefighters can often locate hot spots inside walls and extinguish them before they spread” the release stated. “It also allows rescuers to more safely scout collapsed floors and other dangerous situations that could result in serious injury or death.”
“We are extremely grateful to Reiff & Associates and Fireman’s Fund for this grant,” stated Fire Chief Christopher Mullin. “This truly enables us to provide an increased level of service and safety to the community.”
