Livingston Groups Get Donations From Chinese Culture Committee
Mayor Edward Meinhardt credited the "spirit of giving back" as one of the reasons that Livingston is a special place to live.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Chinese Culture Day (LCCD) Committee recently held a special donation ceremony at a town council meeting, presenting checks to four community organizations to show thanks for their “outstanding service to the town.”
In all, the committee donated $6,000 to the four groups:
- $2,000 each to the Livingston Fire Department and the Livingston First Aid Squad (both volunteer-based organizations)
- $1,000 each to the Livingston Police Department and the Livingston Public Library (both town-funded institutions)
The donation event marked the formal conclusion of the 2024 Livingston Chinese Culture Day celebration, held in honor of the Year of the Snake. Organized by five Chinese-American organizations and supported by the Township of Livingston, the event has become an annual celebration of culture, education and civic engagement.

“We talk a lot about volunteerism—and just look around this room,” Meinhardt said. “The core of every organization is here. We've all shown up for one another in different ways, and many of us were part of this event.”
“We also talk about the two words ‘give back’—which mean so much to me personally—and all of you at LCCD truly give back,” Meinhardt added. “So do the volunteers receiving these donations tonight.”
