Livingston Hospital Keeps Streak Of Stellar Leapfrog Ratings

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston received an “A” grade for Fall 2018 as part of the Leapfrog Group’s biannual ranking of the nation’s hospitals.

The Leapfrog Group states that its rating system is focused entirely on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The hospital safety grades are released by the nonprofit group twice a year, in the spring and in the fall.

According to hospital administrators, it's the 14th straight year that Saint Barnabas Medical Center has received the group's highest rating, putting it in elite company.

"Being named one of only 42 hospitals in the United States to receive 14 consecutive ‘A’ grades demonstrates the commitment and intentional focus on safety and quality by all physicians and employees of Saint Barnabas Medical Center," said Stephen Zieniewicz, FACHE, president and CEO at the hospital.

"We are honored to be recognized and understand our responsibility and dedication to our continued journey of high reliability and exemplar outcomes for our patients and their families," he added.

Leapfrog Group spokespeople also had high praise for the hospital.

"Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s continued success in achieving an ‘A’ rating is evidence that the organization places an emphasis on protecting patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections... We are inspired by Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s leadership and patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
